TRIVIA!!!!!!! ARE MIXED BREED DOGS HEALTHER THAN PURE BRED DOGS???

The correct answer to last weeks question (Why do animal eyes appear to glow when you shine a light in their face?) is; In animals the retina has a reflective layer called the tapetum lucidum. This layer reflects light at the back of the eye increasing sight in low light. It was correctly answered by Herbie and Benjamins mom.

Yes, we think that mixed breeds are healthier than pure breds... but there are always exceptions. Pure breds can be inbred which can cause a lot of issues.

Yes, to expand on that same idea, if purebreds are close in their DNA (line-breeding), genes for various problems are statistically more likely to appear in the offspring. When a dog is a hybrid (mixed breed), the gene pool is larger and the likelihood of genetic flaws is smaller
