The answer to last weeks question (What do the hackles up on a dog mean?) is,.. excitement! Not fear, not anger, only stimulation. Correct! In animals the retina has a reflective layer behind it called the tapetum lucidum. this layer acts as a mirror reflecting light at the back of the eye. Helping them, like you said, see better at night. Listen to you "Tapetal reflection". I would think your a biology major. haha
nope no biology for me! music, my friend...a very useful degree :) But, I do love to take pictures and of course I always get annoyed with my crazy devil eyed shots of my precious little angels!
The "red eyes" in photography are because the light is reflected through or very near a blood vessel.
